The patriarch of the Packers was Earl “Curly” Lambeau, and without him, none of the rest that followed would have been possible. Charles Woodson played seven of his seasons with the Packers, and the nine-time Pro Bowlers was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. More modern Packers in the Hall of Fame are Reggie White, a Super Bowl champion with the Packers and the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year both in Philadelphia and Green Bay. Paul Hornung was a four-time NFL champion, Don Hutson won three titles, Herb Adderley was a five-time NFL champion and three-time Super Bowl champ, and linebacker Ray Nitschke was an 11-time First-Team All-Pro. Once again, it was the Packers and Giants, this time at the Polo Grounds, with the Packers holding on at the end to win 14-7. The Packers won back-to-back championships, securing the title by blocking an extra point in the season’s final week, finishing with a tie against Portsmouth. The Packers and Giants were both unbeaten heading into their November 24th game at the Polo Grounds, and the 20-6 win by the Packers set them up as undefeated first-time champions.
